Osborne was Military Secretary to the Earl of Auckland, Governor-General
of India. His sister Emily Eden, who accompanied him to to India published,
among other works, 'Portraits of the People and Princes of India'.
The illustrations in Osborne's work include Sikh chieftains and armour,
the Shalimar Gardens in Lahore, and dancing girls in the Punjab. London
1840.
