Chowdry, Anita. Julia Dragon.

The Julia dragon was constructed using a computer programme called “Ultra Fractal” and is based on the classic Mandelbrot and Julia structures modified by a mathematician called Shigehiro Ushiki. The dragon or cloud shape comes from reiterated elements in exponentially growing and receding proportion.

Lucknow - entrance gate to Secinder Bagh where 2000 mutineers were killed in 1857.

Also known as Secundra Bagh, a villa and garden estate on the outskirts of Lucknow. The scene of fierce fighting during the 'Indian Mutiny' of 1857, it was used by sepoys as a refuge from British troops.

Circa 1870.

Albumen print. Mounted on a contemporary album leaf with titling in contemporary ink. Verso another albumen print circa 1870 titled 'Lucknow - ruins of the residency - the memorial'. 235mm x 190mm. (9.25 x 7.5ins).
