London 1845.
Lithographed frontispiece and folding map. Original cloth and printed paper label (dulled). Errata page present. pp. xxvii, 316. 8vo. RARE.
Presumably the same Nikolai Khanikov, Russian agent, who crossed the Caspian and reached Herat in 1858 to make overtures to the Afghan Amir Dost Mohammed Khan. He did not make it to Kabul, but he did survive, unlike many European adventurers in Central Asia.
