From Portraits of the Princes & Peoples of India. Durbar scene showing Lord Auckland, the Governor General and Emily Eden's brother receiving the Raja Of Nahun and other Sikh notables. The Hon. Emily Eden, a skilled watercolourist, accompanied her brother, Lord Auckland in India during the period when he was Governor General from 1835-1842. Her letters, later published in Up the Country, reflect her acerbic wit and keen observation of her surroundings.
